Start a dinner party with your international university student: give your family new cultural horizons without moving from home.
The student you host will be the same each week. The family-student pairing is fixed so that you can get to know each other better week after week.
Being a host family with Dinehome means having dinner together with an international student once a week. The dinner is held in the host family's home and is kindly offered by the host family.
The student you host will be the same each week: the family-student pairing is fixed so that you can get to know each other better week after week and for the best experience, we recommend that you have at least ten dinners together, i.e. see each other for about two and a half months.
It is not necessary to have a midweek dinner, it can also be a weekend lunch.
Usually students also attend to practise their Italian, so during the dinners you will have to speak some Italian and not just English!
Students participating in Dinehome want to get to know the local culture and share their own with enthusiasm.
Our students are aged between 19 and 30 and come from more than 55 different countries: Australia, France, Germany, Spain, USA, England, Pakistan, Turkey, Japan and many more.
Listen to what some of the families already participating have to say!
"It is an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange and language practice, while giving a student away from home a sense of warmth and family."
"When I heard about this project, I talked about it at home. The older children liked the idea straight away, for them it was like leaving home to go and see and imagine new things."
"It's a very interesting cultural exchange, especially if you have teenagers or young people in your family. It definitely broadens one's cultural horizons and is a positive role model for the younger generation."
