How can we help you?

We answer all your questions

Is it possible to change international students every week?

This is not the idea. The Dinehome project favours continuity, and the idea of a host family is born precisely when the same student is always hosted by the same family. In this way an ongoing relationship is created and the student feels part of the family.
+

What if I don't like it the first time?

It may happen that there is no feeling. However, we recommend that you try at least a second time to see if you really don't want to continue. If you don't like the Dinehome experience itself and want to stop participating, just write to us. If you like the experience, but feel that it would be more satisfying with a different family, or hosting a different student, you will change families and students respectively. It is important to be honest from the start to avoid leading to an uncomfortable situation for both parties.
+

Does the host family have to cook only typical food?

No, the family has to cook as at a normal family dinner. Of course, having a guest is recommended to take more care in choosing and preparing the food.
+

We live in the province, are we too far away to participate?

International students live in the centre of cities. So the area outside the city is quite out of the way for them. However, if there is a reliable and fast public transport connection to the centre the exchange can be done.
+

Does the weekly dinner have to fall on the same day or can it be arranged from time to time?

The day of the weekly dinner can be agreed with the student from time to time and in case of unforeseen circumstances the dinner can be postponed. It is not a problem if sometimes you are not available, just let the student know in advance and perhaps postpone the dinner. We always encourage you to keep the dinners going. We let you organise your own dinners so that we can meet everyone's needs.
+

Is it possible to choose the nationality of the student to be hosted?

During registration you can indicate the nationality preference of the student. Volunteers will choose the profile of a boy or girl that best suits your needs and interests.
+

What happens once we have applied as a host family?

Those responsible will begin the process of selecting a student for your family. After they have chosen the student, you will receive an email with the student's contact details and further information on how to proceed.
+

Which students participate in the exchange?

Students participating in Dinehome project want to learn about the local culture and share their own with enthusiasm. The age of our students is between 20 and 30 years old and they come from many countries including: France, Germany, Spain, United States, England, Pakistan, Turkey and more. Italy is not a random destination, in fact the students who arrive have chosen our country among many other possible destinations because they are passionate and curious about our language, food and culture.
